How Do Moisture Readings Work?
Moisture tests are important to the process of drying wooden structures. The test is performed by drilling pins into two small holes in a home's exterior siding and using electronic meters to measure the electrical resistance between the two pins. The optimal moisture for a wood structure is somewhere between 7 and 13 percent. Anywhere over 13 percent indicates moisture intrusion.
